The Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht race is the biggest annual yacht race in Australia that starts in the famous Sydney Harbor on Boxing Day (the day after Christmas).
But getting to the point we are here to provide our forecast for the big race.
Currently from all weather model and data sources it looks like the race is going to be a race with a wet start a dry middle and a wet end with current modelling indicating showers and rain in Sydney on Boxing Day to kick things off. As the boats make it out in the Tasman and down towards tassie they will encounter a mix of weather of both fine and wet with showers passing through parts of the Tasman, while sunny breaks are likely. But as the yachts head into Tasmania and Hobart they will encounter more unsettled conditions of the wet with passing weak cold fronts to greet them as the winner crosses the line.
